The original (1829), was part of a series of twenty allegorical medallions created by the Russian medal-maker and sculptor Fyodor Tolstoi (1783-1873). This medallion features a Russian warrior poised to strike his enemy with a spear. The shield of the defeated enemy features a woman offering a cup to a dragon. Plaster. Diam. 7 3/4 in.
