A hand-painted collectible chess set emulating regiments of the Mountain and Steppe Cossacks. Cossack maneuvres were arranged to demonstrate boldness and battle training to the Russian Emperor. The Mountain Cossacks are represented by the Terek Cossack Squadron (Sotnya), and the Steppe Cossacks by the Atamansky Cossack Regiment. The uniforms of these regiments differ in cut and color.
