The 15th century was the heyday of Netherlandish art. In spite of the influence of the mediaeval tradition in the oeuvre of Robert Campin, identified with the Master of Flemaille, his paintings are dramatic and inspired by the feeling of personal involvement in the depicted event. The diptych wings illustrate three central Christian doctrines: those of the Incarnation, Redemption and Holy Trinity. The original size is 13 1/2 x 9 5/5 in.
