The Russian Lighting Design competition was first organized in 2001. Its goal is to popularize the profession of lighting designer, to identify and promote gifted young Russian designers in the national and international marketplace, and also to raise the status of Russia’s lighting design.
In 2022, in addition to the already established nominations, a special one was introduced for the “Best Museum Lighting Project”, the purpose of which was to draw the professional community’s attention to specific areas of the use of lighting in the museum sphere that are particularly interesting today. The competition jury for this nomination was made up of Alexei Bogdanov, Deputy General Director of the State Hermitage, Marina Chistiakova, Deputy Director of the Historical Museum, and Natalia Potapova, Director of the Lights of Moscow museum.
The winner in the “Best Museum Lighting Project of 2020–22” was the Moscow Planetarium (by Ksenia Lanikina of the YARKO Lighting Design Studio).
