Călin Alupi’s painting has taken its place among the permanent display in the General Staff building

Published on 10 April 2024
From 9 April 2024, the painting of The Golia Monastery in Jassy by the celebrated Romanian Post-Impressionist artist Călin Alupi (1906–1988) donated to the museum by his grandson, Nicolae Petrescu, can be seen in Hall 429 of the General Staff building.

The picture, which Alupi painted in 1965, shows a historic religious house that is highly famed in Romania, even giving rise to the expression “as old as the Golia Monastery”. The work has enriched the Hermitage’s collection of Romanian paintings.
