Winter Palace of Peter the Great

Separate museum facility

Please note! Tickets give the holder the right to visit the Winter Palace of Peter the Great, a separate museum facility, with an obligatory guided tour and do NOT give access to the Main Museum Complex.

A visit to the Winter Palace of Peter the Great is an opportunity to go back into the depths of time, to descend to what was street level in the early 18th century and to view what has survived beneath the building of the Hermitage Theatre from the first official imperial residence in Saint Petersburg, its grand courtyard with a spacious surrounding gallery, the household cellars, the Tsar’s own rooms – a Turnery, Study and Dining-Room, where the typical ambiance of Peter I’s time has been recreated. Among the variety of objects representative of daily life in that era, it is possible to find many of the Tsar’s own belongings. The former Guardroom contains a unique exhibit – the famous Waxwork of Peter I – a precise physical depiction of Russia’s first emperor made after his death by the court sculptor Carlo Bartolomeo Rastrelli.

Visits to the Winter Palace of Peter the Great are only possible as part of a guided tour group during a particular time slot.

The guided tour lasts 1½ hours. We recommend arriving at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start of your tour. Ticket-holders who arrive late for the tour will NOT be allowed to view the displays independently.

Please note that, irrespective of age, all children under 18 must have their own separate electronic ticket that covers guiding services.
