Portrait of Emperor Peter the Great

The wig is made from Peter the Great's own hair. The emperor's eyes were executed on golden plates over enamel by the miniaturist Andrey Ovsov. The bust was acquired in 1861 from Princess Odescalchi by Emperor Alexander II for the Peter the Great Gallery in the Winter Palace.
