The painter of this portrait is unknown, although it is possible to detect in the composition, characteristics of the lighting, the treatment of the face and the whole figure “generic features” of the style of an Italian exponent of Russian subjects Giovanni Battista Ortolani Damon (ca. 1750 – after 1810). Most probably it is a repetition of a portrait whose location is unknown. It has not yet proven possible to establish the name of the subject. Yulia Plotnikova, going by the costume and hairstyle, puts the time of painting as the mid-1810s.
