Mikhail Savvich Yakovlev (1742–1781), a titular councillor and hereditary nobleman (from 1762) was the eldest son of the manufacturer Savva Yakovlevich Yakovlev, one of the richest men of his day. The portrait was painted after his wedding, which took place in 1756.
