Grand Duchess Natalia Alexeyevna (1714–1728) was the daughter of Tsarevich Alexei, granddaughter of Peter the Great and sister of Emperor Peter II. This portrait was painted from life. Ivan Nikitin was the first Russian court painter, a “master portraitist”. He painted Peter I several times from life and produced a whole gallery of members of the Tsar’s family and their contemporaries.
