Displayed within a single frame are four portraits of Count Sergei Grigoryevich Stroganov’s children – Alexander, Sophia, Yelizaveta and Pavel – painted by the German artist Caroline Franzisca Tridon. She was known for her works in the miniature genre, portrait paintings and lithographs. From 1820 to 1827, Tridon was a pupil in the Paris studios of Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Augustin, Jean-Baptiste Isabey, and Robert Lefèvre. Afterwards, she worked in Dresden, where she fulfilled a considerable number of commissions for the Saxon court.
