In the second half of the 19th century this room belonged to the Third Reserve Apartment (formerly, after the 1837 fire, it was the bedroom of Nicholas I's sons, Nikolai and Mikhail). It presents an example of the furnishings of a wealthy urban house in the first quarter of the 18th century. The wall is adorned by a Russian-made tapestry of the Battle of Poltava. The painted table with side leaves, the painted cabinet and gilded arm-chair were made in Russia following European examples. The display is completed by Brussels tapestries, Dutch earthenware vases and dishes and an oak cupboard from Courland. By the windows are examples of Russian furniture: benches with movable backs and camp chests designed to also be headrests.
