Iranian Ceramics of the 15th – first half of the 18th centuries

The Hermitage collection of Iranian ceramics of the 15th century to the first half of the 18th numbers over 700 items and is one of the best in the world in terms of fullness and the artistic merits of the works.
On display in the hall are both pieces made in the local traditions and other imitating Chinese porcelain. The first group included cups and vessels covered with bright glaze and decorated in the style of miniature painting. A fine example of the second group of ceramics with Chinese motifs is a flask bearing a depiction of pheasants and leaping gazelles. The display is supplemented by a collection of Iranian glassware of the 17th–19th centuries.
