The architectural treatment of this room in the corner of the New Hermitage reproduces the inner courtyard of a wealthy Hellenistic or Roman house. The walls are finished with artificial marble. The eight columns and two pillars supporting the beamed ceiling are carved from Carrara marble. The ornamental compositions on the floor are made of marble of different colours, while the ceiling is embellished with stuccowork.
This hall is used to display decorative sculpture of the Hellenistic and Roman periods. In the centre is a 2nd-century statue of Eros or Cupid with a seashell, a typical example of Roman fountain sculpture.
*At present the statue of Eros is in Hall 121.
