The Hermitage traditionally marks Saint Catherine’s Day as a citywide celebration , and so on 7 December 2023, all the museum’s display facilities will be open to visitors free of charge.
Free-of-charge entry tickets for individual visitors can be obtained from the ticket offices directly on the day, or else in advance through the website tickets.hermitagemuseum.org (using the filter button “Free Day”).
A free-of-charge entry ticket allows the holder to visit the chose Hermitage facility on 7 December 2023 only. The festive tickets to the Main Museum Complex, General Staff building. Menshikov Palace, Museum of the Imperial Porcelain Factory and Winter Palace of Peter the Great do not include any guiding services.
A special gift from the Hermitage to Petersburgers and guests of the city is free-of-charge tickets for guided tours of the Staraya Derevnya Restoration and Storage Centre.
As on other days, on 7 December visits to all the Hermitage facilities will be arranged by time-slots. Free-of-charge online tickets will be made available in batches on the website tickets.hermitagemuseum.org over the course of 5, 6 and 7 December.
The quantity of tickets is limited. One person can obtain no more than two free-of-charge tickets. This measure will help protect museum-goers from profiteers.
On 7 December, the ticket offices of the Main Museum Complex will be open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. In order to avoid large gatherings of people in the cloakrooms and vestibule of the Winter Palace, people approaching the ticket offices will be spaced into small groups.
Free-of-charge tickets do not extend to the Treasure Gallery, which can only be visited on a guided tour.
