On 8 June 2024, the Small Atrium of the General Staff building was the setting for the Hermitage Students’ Club’s traditional celebration to mark the end of the academic year.
This time the main theme chosen for the event, Prazdnik#8, was Conceptualism and so the end-of-year programme ended up being closely connected with the exhibition of Ilya and Emilia Kabakov – “Monument to a Lost Civilization” – due to open very soon in the White Hall of the General Staff building.
The evening began with a quiz for the students on the relevant subject area. Participants competed to show their knowledge of the sources and history of Conceptual Art in the 20th century.
The event continued with contributions from different sections of the Students’ Club. In their numbers, the students looked back over the past year of study in the Youth Centre. Each section chose a format to its own liking, and those attending were treated to tableaux vivants, charades, video clips, memes and even performances. The evening finished with the traditional theme-related DJ set.
