On 30 August 2024, a bus decorated in the “house style” of the Hermitage–Eurasia cultural satellite centre appeared on the streets of Orenburg.
The launch of this unusual public conveyance was timed to coincide with the opening of the Hermitage–Eurasia Centre that takes place on 6 September 2024.
The bus carrying symbols of the new museum will serve various routes in the city. It made its first run on route No 2 and started from the Hermitage–Eurasia Centre. Volunteers told the passengers about the history of the Hermitage’s representation in Orenburg and about Orenburg’s connection to the Piotrovsky dynasty. Musical compositions played; a quiz and a draw for souvenirs were held.
For passengers’ convenience, QR codes have been installed inside the bus which can be scanned to view a film about the new museum and the unique exhibitions that will be held there. While underway, the inhabitants of Orenburg will also be able to listen to an audio track devoted to the history of the building at 8, Pravda Street where the Hermitage satellite centre is about to open, the world’s only Jasper Room and future exhibitions.
