During the school holidays, young voices could constantly be heard in the Hermitage. From 23 to 31 March 2024, the State Hermitage participated in the Festival of Children’s Museum Programmes entitled “Children’s Days in Petersburg”.
Specially for the festival, staff of the Hermitage School Centre devised an exploration route around the museum. The quest took in the halls of Ancient Egypt and Classical Antiquity, Italian and Flemish painting, the Knights’ Hall and also the Hall of the Kolyvan Vase.
The children learnt what the Kolyvan Vase was made from, why part of the Vatican ended up in the Hermitage and where the statue of Jupiter was found. Together with Fortuna, the participants set of on a journey around the museum’s halls, discovered the history of exhibits and tackled tasks set by the Ancient Roman goddess.
Youngsters are an audience particularly dear to the museum. The Hermitage School Centre regularly produces a variety of educational programmes for children that enable them to get acquainted with the life of the museum, its collections and the history of art.
To find out about upcoming programmes, watch out for news on the website and in the social networks.
See you in the museum!
