The Hermitage’s School Centre has announced the start of the 28th children’s Computer Graphics and Animation Competition with the title “The History of Costume, or A Costume with a History”. Until 6 May (inclusive), school pupils can submit competition entries on a choice of one of six themes.
On 6 April, the results of the previous, 27th, Computer Graphics and Animation Competition were announced at the School Centre. That one was dedicated to the major exhibition project “Tsars and Knights. Romancing with the Middle Ages”. The creators of the best works were presented with certificates.
For the new competition, the School Centre invites participants to look at the Hermitage’s collections through the depictions of articles of clothing – in paintings, sculpture or porcelain. The museum exhibits will help them to trace the history of costume from various periods and peoples and to use that as the basis for the creation of an original work.
Works can be produced on the following themes:
“There’s
Russian spirit here!” – reflections on the distinctive features of Russian costume
“The
Costume of My Favourite Historical Era”– depict yourself, friends or family in historical attire
“Regal
Outfits”– take inspiration from the formal gowns of the 18th and 19th centuries
“A
Princess’s Wardrobe” – study children’s historical costume and create your own wardrobe for a princess
“Clothing
of the Future” – come up with a fantasy costume that has elements of historical styles and the fashion of the future
“Hermitage
Portraits” – create a computer game or competition based on motifs from the Hermitage’s portrait gallery.
