
It was completely destroyed during the 1837 fire and made anew to the design of the architect Vasily Stasov when the palace was reconstructed. Stasov proposed using iron structures in it that were produced by the Alexandrovsky Foundry. The architect gave the belfry features of Rastrelli’s Baroque style. He decorated its gilded dome with appliqué rocailles, framed the lunettes below with figured cornices, emphasized the use of orders and gave the capitals of the columns a picturesque appearance.
